Boutique Hotel El Nido Holbox

El Nido was a wonderful choice for our visit at Holbox. I loved the modern architecture and aesthetic details everywhere. It is quiet, and relaxing. Alberto and the rest of the team were kind and helpful. The food is fresh, and great for nights where you don't feel like going into town We enjoyed the location, because we were further away from the village center and liked to walk. Late evenings/night you will likely want to take a taxi or make sure you have a light. It is right around the corner from punta Coco, where you can walk to the bioluminescence area. There are quieter, off-the-beaten path beaches to explore

Great hotel on Holbox for those who want to avoid the crowds. Very modern, clean and comfy (I really liked the style). It's very close to Punta Coco (3min walk) to watch the Sunset, Bioluminescence and to enjoy a less crowded beach. However, you should be aware that the hotel is a bit far from the city center, so you need to walk around 30min. there one way. But there also are some restaurants closer by (Pizza, Mexican cuisine, Burgers), between the hotel and the city (around 15min walk). There also is a little store around the corner to buy drinks, etc. The owner and staff are lovely and so is the whole common area, including the pool. The breakfast (coffee/tee, joghurt with granola, fruit, cookies) is included and if you like a bit more such as eggs, you can buy it for a little extra cost. So, overall, it is totally recommendable if you are not the party but the more quiet type of tourist ;) Muchas gracias!

The hotel is amazing, it’s very peaceful and easy to spend hours by the pool. The rooms are beautiful, very well designed and the staff are excellent. The food is good and the hotel is a beautiful place to relax. As a solo female traveller, I felt very safe and looked after throughout my stay. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying on the island, who doesnt mind paying for taxi’s or long beach walks. Through no fault of the hotel the roads surrounding the hotel are completely flooded, much worse than the rest of the island, which makes the location a little tricky, however it is still possible to get around via walking up and down the beach. I had no issue with the remote location when making the booking, but I was not aware of the extent of the flooding. This is completely out of the hotels control, however this island wide issue does need addressing, for tourism to continue. The island has so much potential.

El Nido offers the cozy comfort and hospitality of a classic bed-and-breakfast wrapped in a thoughtfully and chicly designed hotel. Alberto and Franco are warm, attentive hosts who make you feel very welcome. The property is beautifully landscaped and well maintained, with a peaceful pool and comfortable sun beds - perfect for relaxing in the morning. Rooms are clean, comfortable, and have ample storage. There’s no fridge in the room, but the hosts are happy to store small items in the kitchen fridge. Breakfast is a light but high-quality spread (yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, juice, pastry) with excellent coffee. Larger breakfasts are available for a reasonable extra cost. One evening, don’t miss Alberto’s homemade pasta, it’s absolute perfection, and the perfect comfort food after a long day of exploring the island. The hotel is about a 5-minute walk from beautiful public beaches, with beach clubs nearby at a wide range of price points. The beaches are also free to use, just no chairs, etc. The hotel does offer parasols to borrow for shade! Town is easy to reach by taxi (about 10 minutes / 200 pesos each way). Walking is also enjoyable and scenic - around 30 minutes mostly along the beach - but bring a flashlight at night as roads can be uneven or muddy. It’s an extremely safe island any time of day or night, so no concern with walking. Bug spray is a must though, and you may even spot the island raccoons along the way! Just a big thank you to everyone at El Nido for a fantastic stay :)

They are what they promise, a home away from home. Excellent stay, Alberto went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and at home. Thank you Alberto for making the beginning of our trip a great memory :) One of the best stays in Mexico, highly recommended! Some constructive criticism: the shower heads could be replaced to a single jet, to allow for a bit more pressure as the rain shower with low pressure is not ideal. Some improvement on the food at the restaurant given the prices would allow guests to stay in if they are not in the mood of going out and maybe the availability of snacks to buy throughout the day should you choose to have a lazy day at the pool :) last thing, being a bit out of the center approx. 25 mins walk it would be nice if the hotel offered bikes at competitive prices as they were quite expensive compared to the prices in the center of Holbox

El Nido is just that- a nest of perfectly designed peace and calm on an island where those things are premium. Alberto and the staff make you feel welcome and untroubled- no thumping music, no loud voices, no intrusions. The hotel itself is gorgeously designed with a lovely pool. The bed was huge and very comfortable, every little bit of design to die for. For those of you looking to have a quiet stay just five minutes from the beach (the best beaches with the fewest people (unlike the other end of the island) this is for you. Well worth the adventure.

We had a great stay. Alberto was a genuinely lovely host: warm, helpful, and quietly attentive in the best way. The room felt minimal, spacious, and calm. The shower was also excellent, which always matters more than you think after a long day. Brekkie was on the smaller side and needed an extra to be substantial. Alberto makes his own pasta which I'm sure are great but we didn't try them. It is a bit far from the centre, and taxis were about $200 per ride for us. But the upside is it’s noticeably quieter, and that trade-off worked perfectly for what we wanted. Would happily stay again.

The hotel is a great retreat. Far from the city center so it's perfect for a quite holiday, but the beaches nearby are not great for swimming due to the birds. The ride with a quad taxi to the hotel is fun and cheap. It is clean but the free breakfast has space for improvement with less sweets and something Savoury.
